STURMINSTER & HINTON ANGLING ASSOCIATION

PLATFORMS FOR THE LESS ABLE

Two platforms are situated at Riverside Meadows adjacent the Council Car Park which is opposite The Bull Inn just downstream of Sturminster Town Bridge.

The second, larger disabled fishing platform

The platforms for less able anglers at Riverside Meadows were formally opened on 7 September 2005  by Keith Dunn, himself a wheel chair user and keen fisherman. Representatives from all the organisations (Liveability, North Dorset District Council, The Environment Agency & Rotary) who made the project possible were in attendance plus press photographers. To mark the occasion Keith was presented with a complimentary permit prior to him commencing fishing.  Our thanks go to all concerned and to especially Life Member, John Dimmer who worked tirelessly on the project of behalf of the Association.   The centre photograph below shows Keith about to cut the tape.
