Wood Lane length. Approach via Wood Lane turning left in Hinton travelling from Sturminster Newton.

Here's a river stretch with two contrasting halves. Upstream of 'Dunch Mouth', which is straight across the meadow from the car park, the water is shallow and has more flow. It averages around 6' deep and, in  spite of the heavy weed growth in summer, is productive all season long. There are some good chub here - normally found near trees on the opposite bank (nothing ever changes....) and lots of small roach and dace.
Below Dunch Mouth it's a lot deeper - up to 13' - and there are good roach with the odd bream and tench to be caught. In past seasons a lot of skimmers were caught as well - now they've grown up you could get a net full of proper slabs if you're lucky.
As with all our river lengths there are good perch and pike along the whole stretch.
