Where To Fish

This section is dedicated to getting you to where you want to be on the Stour but for those who do not know the River a few comments are necessary beforehand. If you want details of the Lake Fisheries Click Here

Similarly if you need details of Exchange Ticket Waters Click Here

Generally the river varies in depth from about 8' to 11' but there are some rather deeper parts and also shallower sections below Cut Mill and  Fiddleford. Lesser depth sections tend to be weedy during the summer months. Apart from the mill pools most anglers tend to favour open deeper stretches which are readily available above Sturminster Mill,  some way below Sturminster Bridge and from Fiddleford upstream. There are a few swims above Cut Mill at Hinton St Mary.

In the winter the river changes and there is much more stream and opportunity to fish the shallower reaches, to include Hammoon and at Bere Marsh.
