The role of the Club’s Web Secretary is vital to keep members informed
of developments and other matters that affect our enjoyment of the
sport. The current postholder is Ian Denton who has decided to step
down after taking us through a change of provider and development of
this, our present Clubmate software. His service to this Club is much
appreciated and we are pleased that he will continue as a member.
Ian will be available to the new website manager for advice and
guidance for as long as is needed. He has offered us his thoughts on
qualities that are needed in the role, as follows…
The person taking on the role of website management should have the
following skills:
1. The ability to maintain the web content to a high standard – the
website is the window through which anglers of all skill levels are
kept up to date with news and information.
2. The ability to take photographs & manipulate and upload images to a
high standard – this is especially important for News items, as they
are often the primary source of information. Producing News items
to a consistently high standard reflects well on our reputation.
3. At the start of each new season the holder liaises with the Match
Secretary and the Vice Chair to establish the Fixtures & Results
pages. This is important in keeping members, guests and
prospective day ticket holders informed of where and how some of
our waters are fishing.
4. The person must be prepared to invest time in learning the
functionality of Clubmate in order to get the best from the club’s
investment in the software.
5. Inevitably Clubmate will change their offering to the club as IT/
Software develops over time. It’s important that the web manager
keeps abreast of these developments.
We are looking for a person with relevant skills and experience to take
over the role, initially as an appointee but then as an elected officer of
the Club at next AGM. The Club Committee usually meets monthly and
the Web Secretary is an integral part of this.
If you feel that you have these qualities and are willing to support the
Club and its members, please contact our Club Treasurer, Simon Hanson.
